PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat treatment mechanism for a card which can prevent suitably a direct thermal effect due to thermal radiation over an information storage part of the card in heat treatment by a light source, and an image forming apparatus for the card equipped with the mechanism. SOLUTION: In the heat treatment mechanism 16 for the card wherein the card C having the information storage part 74 in a part of the surface of a card main body 72 is treated with heat by using the light source 51 as a heating source, a light-intercepting plate 52 intercepting the light radiated over the information storage part 74 is provided between the card C and the light source 51.
