PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display enabling realization of the changeover of multicolor display and monochrome display. SOLUTION: The changeover circuit 30 of this liquid crystal display determines judges whether display data DD provided from the external device are data for performing full color display or data displayable in monochrome. Only then, the circuit 30 generates a changeover signal SS for switching the display of the liquid crystal display from the full color display to the monochromatic display or from the monochromatic display to the full color display, according to the determined result and outputs the generated changeover signal SS to a control signal generating circuit 32.
