PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tatami mat which stores coal therein to exert the effect of the coal to the maximum extent. SOLUTION: The tatami mat 100 is formed of a tatami mat surface 1 arranged on a front surface of the tatami mat, at least one or more layers of internal plates 3 arranged under the tatami mat surface 1, frame members 4 arranged between the internal plates 3 along side portions 3a thereof, to thereby thicken the tatami mat 100 in its thickness direction, and a reinforcing means 5 arranged inside the frame members 4 to connect the frame members 4 together, to thereby reinforce the frame members 4 and thicken the central portion of the tatami mat 100 in the thickness direction. According to the tatami mat 100 thus formed, a large quantity of coal 8 is filled in the interior of the frame members 4 and spaces 7 of the reinforcing means 5, whereby the effect inherent to coal 8 is exerted to the maximum extent.
