PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color reproduction method enabling to obtain necessary color materials in a short period of time when outputting spectrum information to be inputted, by a digital color hard copying machine using color materials of four or more colors, and to provide a machine realizing this method and a program to execute this method. SOLUTION: The color reproduction method is characterized to decide necessary quantity to be consumed for each color material by using a relationship of previously obtained addition ratio and each color material quantity to be used, where the input spectrum information is indicated by an addition ratio of major component vectors. The digital color hard copying machine to realize this and the program to make computer execute this method are also provided.
