The scaffolding tower assembly, primarily for use in areas with restricted access such as corridors, stairways etc., comprises first and second pairs of spaced uprights 1,2 that define first and second ends of the assembly and which are connected by a number of braces 3,5. A ladder section 6<SB>1</SB> is mounted between one pair of uprights and can be moved between an upright, closed, operational position and an open position in which it affords personal access to the interior of the tower. The ladder section is preferably mounted on the tower assembly through a hinge 9 at its upper end that connects it to an upper horizontal brace member so that a limited degree of vertical movement is allowed. The lower end of the ladder section may include open yokes 10 that engage a lower brace member when the ladder is in an operational position but allow the ladder to be rotated to an open position when the ladder is lifted. The tower may include a number of ladder sections and one or more platforms 12 within the tower with a trapdoor 14 to facilitate movement within the interior. The tower may also include adjustable feet 16 to facilitate its use on stairs. |
