PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a POF which has excellent dimensional stability and a low transmission loss. SOLUTION: This plastic optical cord is constituted by longitudinally attaching a fiber (A) to the outer periphery of a plastic coated optical fiber and bonding the fiber (A) by the resin layer. The fiber (A) is a core-and-sheath type composite fiber of which the core component is a molten anisotropic polyester and the sheath component is a flexible polymer containing 0 to 30 mass% molten anisotropic polyester.
