PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent thermal stress from being applied to a heater such as a heating medium passage due to increase in the temperature of a vicinal heating medium caused by the remaining heat of a catalyst combustion heater after the usage is stopped. SOLUTION: The heater comprises a heat exchange section 7 for heating a heating medium 3 in the heating medium passage 15 that is provided at a radiation section 13 via a combustion apparatus 8, a circulation apparatus 10 for circulating the heating medium 3 in the heating medium passage 15, and a controller 12 for controlling the combustion apparatus 8 and the circulation apparatus 10. The controller 12 stops the operation of the combustion apparatus 8 based on the usage stop operation, and stops the operation of the circulation apparatus 10 after specific time passes.
