PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the time required to print out a first page after the start of reception of image data is shortened. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a photoreceptor drum 13 and a transfer roll 21 which comes in contact with the photoreceptor drum 13 to transfer the toner image formed on the photoreceptor drum 13 to a paper sheet. When the reception of image data is started by an image receiving part, a test voltage is applied to a transfer roll 21, and a current value is detected by an electric current detecting part 35. The detected current value is held in an FB current value holding part 12a. When image data are received to some extent, the forward rotation of the photoreceptor drum 13, the transfer roll 21, etc., is started. A transfer bias determining part 12b determines an optimum voltage to be applied according to the current value held in the FB current value holding part 12a, and a determined transfer bias is applied to the transfer roll 21. |
