PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste water containing fluorine, being capable of reducing the fluorine concentration below the environmental quality standard by removing the fluorine from the waste water containing the fluorine of the low concentration. SOLUTION: The method for treating the waste water containing the fluorine in which the fluorine concentration in the treated waste water is reduced by bringing the waste water containing the fluorine as the treated water into contact with calcium hydroxide as a treatment agent and making the treatment agent adsorb the fluorine in the treated water. The calcium hydroxide as the treatment agent is characterized by having a specific surface area of 20 m<2> /g or more if a carbon dioxide treatment is not carried out as an after-treatment.
