PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the activity of a chemical substance on transcriptional promotion activity of a ligand responsive transcriptional control factor. SOLUTION: The method for evaluating the activity of a chemical substance on transcriptional promotion activity of a ligand responsive transcriptional control factor is carried out as follows: in a two hybrid system controlling the transcription of a reporter gene by ligand-dependently forming a complex between a ligand-responsive transcriptional control factor or the ligand binding region of the control factor, and a transcriptional coupling factor which can ligand-dependently bind the controlling factor or the ligand binding region of the coupling factor, the amount of the expression of the reporter gene by contact with a test substance is measured; separately, the amount of the expression of reporter gene which is transcribed without depending the ligand responsive transcriptional control factor is measured; and based on the result of this measuring, test conditions are selected to perform the objective evaluation.
