PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily form an arbitrary enlarged image of a body to be observed which is positioned under optimum conditions and to record this enlarged static picture to a recording device by simple control. SOLUTION: When a freeze switch 11 is operated first time, the output signal from a CCD 24 is stored as a static picture in an image memory 32 and is displayed to a monitor, etc. When the freeze switch 11 is operated second time, the static image is recorded to the recording device 17 by the output of a recording trigger signal. When an electronic variable power switch 12 or the like is operated, the electronically enlarged static picture is formed in accordance with the data of the image memory 32 in an electronic variable power circuit 33 and a trigger prohibition flag to output the delivery of a recording trigger signal is turned off. The recording trigger signal is sent by the subsequent operation of the freeze switch 11 and the recording of the enlarged static picture to the recording device 17 is made possible.
