PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately take initial analysis of a weight sensor which detects a passenger sitting on the passenger seat of a vehicle equipped with a passenger protecting device. SOLUTION: When one door 9 of the vehicle is opened and its door switch 10 is turned ON, the weight sensor 9 which detects the weight of the passenger sitting on the passenger seat 1 is initially diagnosed. Through the initial diagnosis, it is decided that the sensor is normal on condition that the output voltage V of the weight sensor 8 is Vmin to Vmax while no passenger sits on the passenger seat 1, if the weight sensor 8 is abnormal, an indicator 11 is turned on to give a warning to the driver. The initial diagnosis is taken right after the door 9 is opened, so the state wherein it becomes difficult to take the initial diagnosis while the passenger sits on the passenger seat 1 is securely evaded. |
