PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact plane antenna which can be preferably installed even at a place where the mounting position is limited, without deteriorating transmitting and receiving efficiency and directional characteristics. SOLUTION: The plane antenna 10 has a pane 12; an insular conductor 14b being formed on the surface side of the pane 12, having a patch-shaped radiation conductor 14a and a strip-shaped projecting section 14b projected from the radiation conductor 14a, and satisfying Lb <=k.λ/2 when the wavelength of a radio wave is represented byλ, the compaction ratio of the pane 12 by (k) and the projecting length of the projecting section 14b by Lb ; and a grounding conductor 16 formed on the same surface as the insular conductor 14, and separating and surrounding the periphery of the insular conductor 14.
