PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video preamplifier having a hue expanding function for OSD signals in a display, and to provide a method thereof. SOLUTION: An OSD interface block receives R, G, B OSD signals and outputs R, G, B OSD signals which are adjusted according to R, G, B control signals. A video signals amplifier block combines level-adjusted R, G, B OSD signals with R, G, B video signals respectively and amplifies the combined signals to generate output R, G, B signals. An IIC bus controller generates prescribed mode signals. An intensity controller generates R, G, B control signals by bit combinations of the mode signals and intensity control signals. Using the video preamplifier and the OSD signal hue expansion method, the number of hues expressible by the OSD signals can be increased, while minimizing the increase in the number of output pins of an OSD processor and the number of input pints of the video preamplifier.
