PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method and system which enable communication to be performed at a low cost by interconnecting telephone terminals through the Internet using an ordinary operation. SOLUTION: The present invention is a communication method using a database accumulation device capable of accessing the Internet network by an IP address. The device accumulates a reference table of a terminal number used in a phone network and an IP address used in the Internet network. When there is a connection request from the phone network, the IP address of a party to be connected to is notified to a requesting party with the use of the reference table. The requesting party accesses the party to be connected to through the Internet network by this IP address.
