A device recovers thermoplastic scrap from a manufacturing line producing an electric cable. The device has an extruder head with a support, a flange and a heating collar. The support has a first part fixed to the head and a second longer movable part Downstream of the head is a pipe where the extrudate partly cools and solidifies. An Independent claim is included for the following: (a) Recovering thermoplastic scrap using the above device so the scrap can be processed and recycled. Preferred Features: The heating collar is mounted on the flange. The pipe has an axially movable cylinder and a collar with an air inlet. The air enters at 0.2 - 0.5 m<3>/minute and cools the extrudate to 50 - 95 degrees C in 0.05 - 6 secs when the extrudate moves at 2 - 60 m/minute. |
