The invention relates to methods for producing poly(meth)acrylate compositions, wherein ethylenically unsaturated monomers are transformed into polymers by means of initiators containing a transferable group of atoms and one or more catalysts which contain at least one transitional metal in the presence of ligands which can form a co-ordination compound with the one or more metal catalysts. According to the invention, ethylenically unsaturated monomers are polymerised in the presence of copper, said monomers containing 50 - 100 wt.- %, with respect to the total weight of said ethylenically unsaturated monomers, (meth)acrylates of formula (I), wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl; R<1> is a linear or branched alkyl radical containing 8 40 carbon atoms, preferably 10 40; R<2> and R<3> independently mean hydrogen or a group of formula -COOR', R' is hydrogen or a linear or a branched alkyl radical with 8 40, preferably 10 40, carbon atoms. The total concentration of copper in oxidation steps (I) and (II) in the polymerisation composition is </= 200 ppm in relation to the total weight of the composition less the weight of the copper in oxidation step (O) in the composition. |
