PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color facsimile communication unit that can transmit a color image and employs a reversible compression system when the image is stored once in a memory even when the image is memory-faxed by an irreversible compression system. SOLUTION: In the color facsimile communication unit that is capable of transmitting a color image, when received transmission image data are stored by an irreversible compression system at memory faxing, the transmission image data having been stored at transmission are expanded and subjected to image insertion processing, the data are re-compressed by an irreversible compression system and transmitted. In the case of storing the data by the irreversible compression system, the compressed image data having been stored at transmission are transmitted as they are.
