PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aromatic ring-containing organic resin composition which is excellent in molding properties, transparency and fire retardance. SOLUTION: The fire retardant organic resin composition is characterized by formulating the aromatic ring containing organic resin with a branched organopolysiloxane represented by the average molecular formula: (R<1> 2 SiO2/2 )a (R<2> SiO3/2 )b (SiO4/2 )c (R<3> O1/2 )d (HO1/2 )e (wherein R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are each a monovalent hydrocarbon group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms and an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and the content of the aryl group in the whole monovalent hydrocarbon groups is 80% or more of molar ratio to 100% or less of molar ratio, (a) and (b) are positive numbers, (c), (d) and (e) are 0 or positive numbers), and whose average molecular weight is 300 or more to 10,000 or less, also in which the content of silicon atom bonded- hydroxyl group is less than 1 wt.%.
