The installation comprises one or more automation cells, where at least one cell comprises a transformer (1) and motor drive (2) together with a distributor. The distributor has signal electronics with a microprocessor or controller and a low voltage connection and a field bus connection for data exchange with other bus participants and a controller. The transformer drives the motor. A secure power supply is provided to the signal electronics according to European standards of category 2, 3 or 4 from the distributor. Transformer, distributor and motor have a secure power supply according to the non-trivial power category so that the whole automation cell can be assigned to the non-trivial safety category. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for operating an installation with a secure power supply.
