In a laminate with (a) a support modified by hydrophilizing or hydrophobizing the surface and (b) bilayer(s) of organic amphiphilic molecules in a lamellar phase, in which each 2 monolayers have their hydrophobic sides together, forming a bilayer, and there is a layer of polar solvent between every 2 bilayers, (c) amphiphilic molecules (I) are spin-coated on the support and (d) oriented, multilamellar layers of (I) form from the homogeneous solution by self-organization. An Independent claim is also included for the application of highly oriented mono- or multi-lamellar coating systems of (I) to solid surfaces by (a) modifying a support so that its entire surface is hydrophilic or hydrophobic, (b) dissolving (I) in a suitable solvent that wets the surface and distributing it on the support with a spin-coater and (c) forming multilamellar layers of (I) from the homogeneous solution by self-organization.
