PURPOSE: To collectively seal three bodies such as a front panel, a screen panel and a funnel and prevent the breakage of the front panel, in a sealing device used in a frit sealing process for a glass tube body of a flat cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION: This sealing device comprises a rack for positioning an assembly composed by butting the front panel, the screen panel and the funnel with one another through the frit, and a sealing jig 41 shown below. The sealing jig 41 has a holding means 42 for holding the jointing surfaces of the front panel 2 and the screen panel 3 in a butted form through the frit. The holding means 42 is provided with a first elastic member 43 brought into press contact with the outside surface of the front panel 2 and a second elastic member 42 brought into press contact with the outside surface of the screen panel 3. A member 45 having a hardness <= that of the panel glass is mounted to a part of the first elastic member 43 brought into press contact with the outside surface of the front panel 2.
