PURPOSE: To provide a chair type massager which is capable of massaging an extensive area covering the bottom of the foot, heel, Achilles' tendon, calf of the leg as well as the back side of the knee in a bent condition. CONSTITUTION: The foot rest 4 is axially retained on the forefront of the seat portion 2 in a freely rotatable fashion. This footrest 4 is composed of a seat side frame 24 axially retained on the seat portion and a massage unit 25 whose basic portion is axially retained on a free end of the seat side frame in a freely rotatable fashion, where the forefront of the massage unit is provided with the therapeutic bodies, 41, 42 whose triple sides, namely, the surface of the front, reverse as well as the forefront portion, are equally applied for massage. Massage embodiments to meet a variety of desires of a user who performs massage with the outer or reverse or forefront surface are available when the rotational position of the seat side frame 24 for the seat portion 2 is combined with the rotational position of the massage unit 25 for the seat side frame 24.
