<p>The fungicidal heptaene macrolide antibiotic levorin is produced in increased yields by cultivating Actinomyces levoris together with a yeast or yeast-like fungus of the genus Candida, Saccharomyces or Monilia on a nutrient medium contg. C and N sources and mineral salts. The fermentation can be carried out by cultivating the yeast or yeast-like organism on the nutrient medium for 24-48 hrs., then inoculating with a culture of Actinomyces levoris, or by simultaneous culture of the yeast or yeast-like organism and A. levoris.</p> |
