<p>Superconductor tape comprises a relatively thin layer of superconducting material, pref. Nb, wrapped about an insulating support ribbon, pref. polyethylene, so that the eges of the superconducting strip do not quite meet. A superconductor in a tape form is produced which can be wound on a cryogenic tube without damage and which minimises the quantity of the relatively expensive superconductor metal involved.</p> |
