<p>Protective coating for placing as an intermediate layer between a corrugated metal cover and an outer polyethylene cover of a cable, consists of (I) 40-90% wt., pref. 65% wt. higher methacrylate ester, (IIe at least 0.5% wt., pref. 5% wt. additive for preventing cold flow, such as natural or synthetic waxes, polyalkenes, esp. polybutenes, and (III) 10-60% wt., pref. 30% wt. fillerS, as in NE. 67,09566. The improvement consists of the replacement of 15-35% wt. pref. 25% wt., of components (I) and/or (IIe by bitumen. The protective coating of NE. 67,09566 is difficult to remove from the surface of the corrugated metal cover. Addition of the bitumen to the protective coating gives a more protective coating, which can be easily removed with solvents such as benzine and trichloroethylene. The incorporation of the bitumen does not harm the physical and electrical properties of the protective material.</p> |
