PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a seamless steel pipe by which the frequency of occurrence of a fault on the inner face can be decreased remarkably at drill rolling passing through one pass by one plug. SOLUTION: The method of this invention is used to offer an object to the drill rolling passing through the one pass after coating a scale fusing substance of which the eutectic temperature with FeO is less than 1,200 deg.C on the scale of the plug surface in the state on which scaling hot treatment has been carried out, preferably, on the scale of the plug surface after the scale of a porous outer layer is precluded.
