1291503 On-and-off castors DRABERT SOHNE 16 Oct 1970 [18 June 1970] 49176/70 Heading A4U A castor for a chair comprises a wheel 1 rotatable on an axis 6 in a housing 2, which is rotatable on a vertical pivot axis off-set from the axis 6, and which has a bearing edge 4 which contacts the ground when the pivot axis is tilted and prevents the chair from overturning. The edge 4 is parallel to and below the axis 6, and is on the side of the pivot axis remote from the axis 6. In modifications the bearing edge is replaced by a lip defining a bearing surface, which is inclined to the ground when the pivot axis is vertical and parallel to the ground when the pivot axis is tilted, or by a frame member mounted on the housing. The bearing edge or surface may be covered with a friction material. |
