PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling method by which the thickness in a portion of a different thickness can be formed uniformly even though the portion of the different thickness is formed by turning a rolling means. SOLUTION: This stay plate is made thin locally by the upper and lower rolls 64, 66 of a rolling means 60 put on a turn table 90 by holding both the ends of the stay plate 81 with a pair of clamp means and applying constant tension to the stay plate. In this case, the turning angle of the turn table is assignedθ, the turning angleθwhen the upper and lower rolls are located in an orthogonal position to the longitudinal axis of the stay plate, is assigned 0 deg., when the draft load of the rolling means when the turning angle is 0 deg., is assigned P, the draft load is set to (P/cosθ) or an approximate value like this.
