Cpds. (I): (where R1 is COOH, or a salt, COOR' is alkyl, alkaryl, aryl or alkylamino; R2, R3 and R'3 are H, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, nitro, OMe or lower alkyl), are prepd. by reacting, e.g. a 2-amino-3-methylpyridine with an R3R3'-substd. phenyl halide followed by oxidn. of the product to (I).
