<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a BSS mode (a mode wherein good-quality image data are selected from a group of successively photographed image data and saved) suitable for compression processing of JPEG2000, etc. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is equipped with an image pickup part which picks up subject images successively and generates pieces of image data, a frequency solution part which converts the image data generated by the image pickup part into a conversion coefficient through frequency solution, an encoding part which sections the conversion coefficient obtained by the frequency solution part into 'selection areas predetermined in an image' and 'other non-selection areas' and encodes the conversion coefficient by allocating an information amount to the selection areas preferentially to the non-selection areas to generate a compressed file, an image evaluation part which compares the data amount ('ROI data amount') of the selection areas encoded by the encoding part as to pieces of image data and select image data having a large ROI data amount, and a recording part which records and stores the compressed file of the image data selected by the image evaluation part.</p> |
