PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device for an optical pickup, which is suitable for high density recording and capable of stably and speedily performing recording, reproducing or erasing operation without needing precise and high dynamic positioning (tracking) between a probe part and a condensing point. SOLUTION: An object lens 3 which condenses collimated light is formed on a substrate 2, and the probe part 6 which generates near-field light (or near- field light and propagating light) is formed at the condensing point (or the vicinity of the condensing point) of the object lens 3. Thus, precise and high dynamic positioning (tracking) between the probe part 6 and the condensing point is not needed and recording, reproducing or erasing operation is stably performed at high speed. |
