PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine capable of improving operability with an one touch key and a method for controlling the facsimile equipment. SOLUTION: This facsimile machine is constituted so that a CPU 1, an ROM 2, an RAM 3, a picture memory 4, an operating part 5, a display part 6, a picture reading part 7, a picture outputting part 8, an encoding/decoding part 9, an MODEM 10, and a network control unit 11 can be connected through a data base 12. When it is detected that an one touch key is quickly depressed twice by the CPU 1, data transmission or transmission preparation to an already stored destination different from that in the case of one time depression so that it is possible to increase the number of registration of one touch dial without increasing the number of one touch keys, or damaging the convenience of the one touch key. Thus, it is possible to improve the convenience for a user.
