PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance lighting performance, make the size compact, and reduce cost by moving to stable lighting, after starting a plurality of discharge lamps. SOLUTION: In the discharge lamp lighting circuit for lighting a plurality of discharge lamps, a starting circuit for supplying starting pulses to each discharge lamp is equipped with transformers T1, T2, having a primary winding and a secondary winding equal to the number of the discharge lamps, and the discharge lamps 6-1, 6-2 are each connected to the secondary windings T1s, T2s respectively. Capacitors C1, C2 are connected one by one to the primary windings T1p, T2p of each transformer, and one switching element SW is installed to the capacitors C1, C2. Accumulated charges of each capacitor are discharged, by closing the switching element SW through the primary winding of each transformer to generate the starting pulses, and the starting pulses are supplied to the discharge lamp via the secondary winding of each transformer. |
