The device has an electromagnetic coupling between a drive motor and a position detector arranged at a motor output so a pinion engaged with a reduction gear can be coupled to a motor shaft when the motor is operated. An axially movable magnetically conducting element is pressed against a run-up plate if the coupling is not carrying current and is held on a magnetically conducting part rotating with the motor shaft if a coil is carrying current. The device has a housing (2) in which a drive motor (3) and reduction gear are arranged. An electromagnetic coupling (6) between the drive motor and a position determination device is arranged at a motor output so that a pinion (44) engaged with the reduction gear can be coupled to a motor shaft (13) when the motor is operated. An axially movable magnetically conducting element (8) is pressed against a run-up plate (10) by a spring (11) when the coupling is not carrying current and is held on a magnetically conducting part (9) rotating with the motor shaft when a coupling coil (12) is supplied with current.
