A vaso-occlusive implant for use in interventional neuroradiology. The implant body carries a self-contained voltage source comprising nanocrystalline electroactive compositions capable of delivering low levels of electrical energy to body media. The invention provides a system and method for occluding an aneurysmal sac by controlled exposure of a charge over a selected post-implantation interval to activate platelet and other blood compositions thereby resulting in localized thrombogenesis within the vascular malformation. |
