The present invention provides mutant presenilin 1 and presenilin 2 polypeptides and polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides and methods for their production by recombinant and PCR techniques are disclosed. Methods for utilizing the mutant polypeptides in screens for inhibitors of activity are also disclosed.
