The device has a tow bar (1) with coupling unit (10) connected to vehicle struts (2,3) via a holding device. This consists of a holder clip fastened to an engine support, e.g. an engine bearing tube, within the struts, and an angled fastening bracket. This is fastened to the underside of the engine support via an engine bearing screw passing through the tube. The tow bar has an angled connection bracket (4) with side plate (5) at each end, for connection to the fastening bracket, and a transverse plate (7) for connection to the holder clip.
