PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying powdery releasing agent and a metallic mold with which metallic mold size is compacted and maintenance of a hydraulic cylinder can be simplified. SOLUTION: A fixed side metallic mold portion 11 and a movable side metallic mold portion 12 are cooperatively formed of a metallic mold cavity 13. At the one end in the longitudinal direction of the metallic mold cavity 13, supplying paths 20, 21 for powdery releasing agent are arranged to communicate with each other, and at the other end, exhaust paths for powdery releasing agent are also arranged to communicate with each other. The metallic molds are further provided with shut-off pins 18 for selectively opening/closing the supplying path, shut-off pins 22 for selectively opening/closing the exhaust paths 24, 25 and the hydraulic cylinder 19 for introducing the powdery releasing agent into the metallic mold cavity by opening the supplying paths just before pouring molten metal and also, driving the shut-off pins 18, 22 so as to exhaust the gas from the metallic mold cavity by opening the exhaust paths. This hydraulic cylinder 19 is disposed at the outer part of the metallic molds.
