A braking device (38) for axles (11) of industrial machinery in general, particularly excavators, where the axle (11) comprises a load-bearing part (12) with a pair of arms (14) each of which terminates with a wheel hub (16a), fixed in relation to the said arms (14). From the wheel hub (16a) a flange (16b) projects to fix a wheel disc, apt to rotate in relation to the wheel hub (16a) and joined to a hub (20). The hub (20) is supported by the wheel hub (16a) and can be driven in rotation by an axle-shaft (28). Moreover, the braking device (38) is housed on the rim of the hub (20). <IMAGE>
