PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stainless steel wire for glass reinforcement which suppresses the generation of cracks on sealing into glass, and is provided with excellent corrosion resistance as well, and glass with the wire sealed. SOLUTION: The wire for glass reinforcement consists of wire for stainless steel containing, by mass, 1 to 100 ppm B. The wire preferably contains <=0.1% C, <=1% Si, <=1% Mn and 12 to 24% Cr. The wire more preferably contains <=3% Mo, <=2% Cu and one or more kinds selected from Zr, V, Nb, Ti and Ta by <=2% in total. Further, since the surface roughness of the wire surface itself influences on the adhesive strength with glass, the Ra of the wire surface is preferably controlled to <=0.5μm.
