PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly sense a collision effectively even in case an impact beam is made of a light material such as aluminum having a lower stiffness than iron as conventional. SOLUTION: An extension 60 is installed at the tail 58F of the impact beam 58 in such an arrangement as overlapping with a sensor bracket 42 when viewed on the side elevation. A projection 80 extended inward in the direction across the vehicle width is formed on the top of the vertical wall part 60A of the extension 60, and if the tail 58F moves with a collision inward across the vehicle width, the projection 80 abuts to a rib 64 formed on the front ridge 12B of the vertical wall part 12A of a center pillar 12 while the inner panel 62 of a side door 56 is interposed, and thereby the rib 64 is crushed.
