PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device with a constitution where a hoist is installed on a top part of a hoistway, capable of being easily installed by reducing an upwardly projecting size of an external upper face of the hoistway from a rooftop of a building. SOLUTION: Supporting beams 19 are installed at the top part of the hoistway in a state that their longitudinal sides are horizontally placed, and they are separated from one another in the horizontal direction. A support 20 is mounted to connect the lower end parts of the supporting beams 19 to one another. The hoist 23 provided with a motor 24, a driving sheave 25 and a braking device 26 is supported by the support 20. The hoist 23 is installed in a state of being settled between the supporting beams 19. As the hoist 3 is installed on the top part of the hoistway, a space from an upper face of the support 20 to an upper face of the hoistway can be reduced.
