摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the carriage mechanism of a thin printer in which a traveling load being imposed to a carriage by the bending resistance of a flexible connecting means is decreased as much as possible by increasing the bending arc of the flexible connecting means and disconnection of the flexible connecting means can be prevented. SOLUTION: The carriage mechanism comprises a carriage 5 mounting a print head 6 bonded with one end of an FPC (flexible connecting means) 10 and movable along a platen 2. The FPC 10 connected with the print head 6 has an arcuate part 10a bonded substantially sideways onto the carriage 5 while being bent toward the periphery. The arcuate part 10a of the FPC 10 connected electrically with a control circuit while passing through the periphery of the carriage 5 is formed across the peripheral area S1 of the carriage and the moving area H1 of the print head.
