PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide increase repulsion performance while maintaining durability. SOLUTION: This golf club head 1 housing a face section 2 for hitting a ball. The face section 2 consists of a central thick-walled section 2A which includes a sweet spot SS and a central point C in the face section near the same and has substantially a specified thickness t1 and peripheral thin-walled sections 2B which are continuous at the thickness smaller than the thickness t1 from the outer edge 2Ae of the central thick-walled section 2A. Annular grooves 7 enclosing the central thick-walled section 2A are formed on the inside surfaces of the peripheral thin-walled sections 2B. The distance S from the outer groove edges 7o of the annular grooves 7 to the peripheral edge E of the face section 2 is specified to 1 to 10 mm. The ratio (Lb/La) of the length La of a straight line K from the central point C of the face section to an arbitrary point on the peripheral edge E of the face section and the length Lb from the central point of the face section on the straight line K to the outer edge of the central thick-walled section is set at 0.1 to 0.5.
|
