MEMBER FOR BEING BURIED INTO LIVING BODY INSERTED BETWEEN CENTRA OF VERTEBRA OF BACKBONE AND SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR HANDLING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument which can change the length without requiring a space for rocking and moving the surgical instrument, and to provide a member for being buried into a living body inserted between centra of verte bra of the backbone as a space holding member for the substitution for the vertebra or the vertebra part separated from the backbone. SOLUTION: The member 1 for being buried into the living body consists of the first and the second burying parts 2 and 3 movable each other in the axial direction and a screw cutting ring 4 which can rotate is provided on the first burying part 2 side. The screw cutting ring 4 is provided with a ring- like screw cutting part 5 being intermeshed with the screw cutting part 6 of the second burying part 3 side and a bevel gear-like teeth line 7. The surgical instrument 18 for handling the member for being buried into the living body has a pinion (a small gear) 20 on the free end of a shaft 19. This pinion 20 is provided with a bevel gear-like teeth line 21 coaxially with the shaft.
