PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and compact visual range assisting device using a man-machine interface excellent in convenience and practicality. SOLUTION: The visual range assisting device has a processing part 6 for calculating the three-dimensional position data of an obstacle on the basis of the data from a stereoscopic camera 1 for detecting the obstacle within a monitor range and an actuator. The actuator is constituted by two-dimensionally arranging a plurality of bag-shaped cells 12. The bag-shaped cells 12 communicate with a high pressure passage 14 and receive an expansible gas through the passage 14. The high pressure valve 8 is interposed between the high pressure passage 14 and the bag-shaped cells 12 and a low pressure valve 9 is interposed between a low pressure passage 15 and the bag-shaped cells 12. A control part 7 controls the high pressure valve 8 and the low pressure valve 9 on the basis of the three-dimensional data of the obstacle specified by the processing part 6 to control the expanded state of the bag-shaped cells 12.
