PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the non-curving lining material used in a fishing reel, and to provide a method for producing the lining material without causing a curvature on the lining material. SOLUTION: The lining materials are used in the fishing reel equipped with a drag mechanism and are disposed between braking boards. In the drag mechanism, a rotation member capable of being rotated by the delivery of a fishing line is rotatably supported on the support shaft of a reel main body. The rotation member is frictionally bound to the support shaft through a plurality of braking boards 41A, 41B, 42A, 42B in the rotational direction to impart a braking force to the rotational member. Therein, the lining materials comprise sheet-like main bodies 40a on whose surfaces curvature-removing portions 70 for removing curvatures in the natural state of the main bodies are formed.
