PURPOSE:To compact microcrystalline powder of zeolite into a prescribed shape without deteriorating the characteristics of the zeolite as a porous body. CONSTITUTION:An organosilicon compd. is vapor-deposited on the surfaces of zeolite microcrystals 1 and the vapor-deposited organosilicon compd. is hydrolyzed to form silica layers 2 on the surfaces of the zeolite microcrystals 1. Powder made of the zeolite microcrystals 1 with the silica layers 2 formed on the surfaces is compacted into a prescribed shape after a binder is added to the powder and the zeolite powder compacted into the prescribed shape is fired. |
