PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater unit detecting the type of the cooking instrument put on a cooking surface, detecting whether the cooking instrument is put on the correct position, and heating a cooking utensil by making a preset temperature of the heater unit optimum. SOLUTION: The control device of a heater unit, comprising a temperature sensor, a heater element, and a cooking surface, and heating the cooking utensil put on the cooking surface, includes a means of measuring the temperature of a cavity in the heater unit, and a means of controlling electric power to be supplied to the heater element, and a means which decides whether the electric power should be controlled or not, depending on the type of cooking utensil put on the heater element, in order to make the heater element proceed to an overdrive state.
